>>And I really didn't consider Clark's statement to be derogatory but rather simply an expression of his opinion.<<

There was nothing factually wrong with what Clark said - I basically agree with the guy - but it was still a stupid thing to say.
However correct it might be, it still sounds ungracious.

Good discussion of it here -

Should put an end to the Clark as VP talk, anyhow.

Tejek, Malbec(this year) is where it's at for me..shux, we disagree on yet another point!

Only when Obama can change water into wine...and its a quality Cabernet Sauvignon....then and only then will I shut up. ;-)

Obama will never be beyond criticism from me but I honestly don't agree with you re: the conservation issue..having seen this campaign up close since pre-NH(if you remember I went there to gotv), where I noted how frugal they are in every aspect..I couldn't even get a freebie button!..noting how Hillary's campaign spent bucks on the Bellagio while Obama's sometimes in motels, for one example, I just give them slack when it comes to decisions during this shaky time when there are still many hurt and angry feelings in the Hillary camp..I too heard from a Massachusetts Dem delegate, just last week, about Hillary supporters still wishing something bad will happen in Obama camp to allow her to get the nomination...

I feel bad because I was in too much of a rush yesterday and inadvertently made a sloppy argument for my opinion about the Clark statement..

In a different context, it would have been 2 military people arguing with or about each other..no harm, no foul..goes with the territory of strong personalities..

But in this prez political environment, knowing Repubs, knowing McCain has NOTHING else, is basing the strength of his candidacy on his POW/military experience, surely Clark could have used different words to say that McCain's military experience didn't necessarily make the grade for POTUS..describing it vividly to disqualify him was impolitic cuz of the way McCain et al would use it..

Whether it was derogatory or not is subjective..It reminds me of a couple of people in my life(and myself, sometimes) where the truth is said in such a way that yes, the facts are correct, yet the words strung together in such a way that they elicit hurt feelings..it's a visceral thing and some people get tweaked and others do not...it's just the way it is...
