The "Straight Talk Express" - absolutely, the media gives McCain the benefit of the doubt every time. I made that point too.

He doesn't deserve it, and it annoys me too - but in that context, you have to frame your arguments better, and Clark didn't.

I'm not at all squeamish about the need to challenge McCain on his character and judgement. It's just if you are going to go down that road, you have to know how to do it. Clark doesn't.

In that way, John McCain’s military service, and especially his decision, as a POW, not to jump the line and walk out of prison when offered, is a piece of who the man is and tells us about the decisions he has made.

If I'm understanding this correctly, it's pretty stunning that The Atlantic would write this.

McCain was begging to sell out America the instant he was captured. He wasn't tortured, because he gave it up so quickly.
