I think climate change is an important concern, and I deeply hope that there is a lot more science and a lot less politics going on behind the scenes. All I see presented for public consumption is political noise. All of this political spin destroys science just as fiat money destroys real wealth.

koan: I agree. I was just reporting what the vast preponderance of the top atmospheric scientists think according to my son in law.

Understand he is as solid as a rock and works about 10 hours straight every day. Super honest and decent. Here are his exact words to me: "Chuck, do not let anyone tell you this global warming is not man made. We know it is."

He says the top atmospheric scientists when they talk among themselves have little doubt global warming is man made.

I believe we had better start listening to our scientists like we listen to our doctors. How many people on all of SI really have the credentials to understand such a complex issue.

One more point I would like to make is this. When I asked my son in law about things like sunspots etc, he said: with new satellite information we can compute those things easily.

I keep hearing amatures talk about sun spots and warming and cooling cycles as thogh these scientists with PHD degrees might have overlooked that. That stuff is second grade stuff to these guys.

They are operating light years beyond that. MY SIl for instance, just presented a very esoteric paper on how formaldahyde is formed in the atmosphere.

99% of the people cannot even imagine how esoteric modern day science has become e.g. nano technology, quantum computers and encryption, and working with gas isotopes.

We know for a fact the Bush administration was rewriting the global warming reports. The head of the agency quit the next day when it was found out; and Christi Todd Whitman (no liberal) had to back off when she alluded to man made global warming on instructions from the bush administration. One does not need to rewrite the truth unless they do not like the reports' conclusions. I think of Gallilao and Coprenicus.

The head of the senate environmental commitee when the republican's controlled the senate made the statement that global warming was the biggest hoax ever perpetrated on mankind. Like he would know!

Well, when the polar ice cap melts it will be a hell of a coincidence it happened just now!
