It doesn't annoy me or anything, just makes it very hard to read, or makes me think there isn't really anything worth reading there if it needs all that dressing up. Just don't like that kind of writing style. Reminds me of Bill Gross. Can't really understand him either. I was probably guilty sometimes of trying to write like that when I was starting out as a grad student (I didn't write much English as an undergrad as my alma mater is the same as Haim's, though I probably tried to write fancy when I was in high school too)... trying to sound important... but then I soon realised that it is much better to write simply and clearly.
