Apparently, QUALCOMM is in fact still QUALCOMM and they have only used the form Qualcomm for general purposes not requiring the correct use of the name. I got a PM from a nameless person who got a PM from a nameless person which explained the situation.

Here it is, edited to protect the innocent:

From '84 forward I worked for a ... multinational company that like InterDigital (e.g.), contained a 2nd cap letter in their name, .... they'd formally eliminated the 2nd cap. It took me awhile to consistently adjust to the change. I believe they had actually formally changed the firm name and registered the new one in Delaware where they are incorporated. Unlike Qualcomm they had reflected the change in the corporate logo, so it was a rather expensive move (signage, stationary, labeling, packaging, etc.) and TEXACO/Texaco has been through several of those ...

So, it's back to QUALCOMM for me. its up to qualcomm management if they want to use the wrong name lower case without punctuation is considered cool in the geek generation though they might use apostrophe's sometime's speling is not so fssy deez days ithur so sum change is gud 4 qualcomms rep
