The Volt should be at least a full generation ahead of anything on the market right now. If GM can actually deliver on the production car they should take a lot of market share back in short order.

My main concern is that the Volt will become TOO popular. The national electric grid is currently not capable of recharging several million cars every evening. If the Volt starts to take off the power generation and power transmission companies need to act fast.

I am hearing 2010 for production, but the people I talk with are not insiders for this product. Also don't know how many they can produce, or how much it will cost.
