None of those claims about "actual written legislative history" amounts to strong support of the constitutional right being anything other than an individual one, even if you assume they are accurate.

But, this was just a SHORT news item. There is no way in Hell that such a short news item could possibly contain even the smallest fraction of the voluminous debate about this issue that was recorded by the scribes.

Which could be argued as a good reason for not providing evidence to back up its argument, but even if its accepted as a good reason, it doesn't change the fact that the evidence is lacking.

Also its rather questionable even as a good reason not to provide evidence. Extensive serious evidence might require a book, but quite a few quotes could be put in to an article of that size.
