Anyone who has trouble deciding between Obama and McCain has a problem. But anyone who had trouble deciding between Gore and Bush was brain damaged. The differences could not have been more stark.

As to your mistake in '04, I would say that you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. Bush's two terms have been judged harshly at the time, but it is quite likely he'll be judged much more fairly by history.

Bush has clearly prevented further attacks against us. Has decimated AQ, who was thought to have the upper hand a couple years ago. It appears that we will win the war in Iraq and be successful in the original intent, which was to eliminate Saddam and bring something approaching a democracy to the region, and the United States is far and away a safer place than it was the day Bush took office.

It is pretty tough to argue with those accomplishments. Yes, there were costly missteps along the way, and they may be more before it is over. And we've lost a lot of American lives in the process. Still, it appears we don't have a credible terrorist threat against us any longer, and 7 years ago you could not have said that.

While history will remember Bush's low approval ratings, they will be far overshadowed by his political courage and judgment in having fought and defeated radical Islam IMO.
