That's my idea of building real self-esteem. Not this fake crap we started 20 years ago where we don't allow failure.

Concur 100%, you're lucky that you had a teacher that really knew how to mold children's minds. There used to be plenty like that, (probably still are), our present feel good system (fake crap is the proper nomenclature) with it's PC check boxes discourages that kind of teaching......

My first grade teacher used to leave the room and go to the office where she'd listen to us over the intercom. Then, when she heard the inevitable playing around, she'd announce over the intercom that whoever was misbehaving should go stand in the coat closet until she returned. And we did. One time nearly the entire class was standing in the coat closet.
