Since 2002 low the BSE went almost 8 fold. An entire index of 30 stocks went up by that much. Something gotta give!!

My cousin at a large IB in India would agree with you about the overheating. The weekly inflation numbers have a lot of noise, though. He would caution you being short into the election later this year. He feels the market will turn up then. It's a very young and small market with lots of capital inflows.
