True on CAFE, and welcome to "Foggy Bottom".

The oil embargo did change a lot - cars got smaller and more efficient, "muscle" cars disappeared, home insulation was something other than an afterthought, MPG was actually discussed, even double pane glass started to get widespread.

What is amazing is that even as their sales grind to a halt over lack of fuel efficiency, faced with bankruptcy, they continue to resist the call for increased performance.
