Some have said that the Soviets just collapsed BEFORE we did. Which would put Russia a little ahead of us as to reforming their society. Putin was overwhelmingly popular there - the people LIKED his policies.

I really don't see how America can survive without a vibrant middle class. Unless current neo (R) policies and ideology are put in the ground with a stake through it's heart, I don't think we will.

Like when Japan was in ascendancy, it is galling. Not saying they are wrong, but why are we here again?

We are learning a lesson. You don't put a dilettante in the WH for 8 years and not expect consequences.
