Bush was only in office 8mos when the Sept 11 attack occurred. Bill Clinton received the same warnings as Bush and failed to make a pre-emptive strike that would neutralize the threat. After 8 YEARS while Osama's alQaeda gained strength, Clinton captured Monica's attention rather than taking binLaden into custody. There's no doubt that Democrats always err on the side of caution when it comes to protecting the lives of Americans. Dem presidents habitually allow international approval or lack thereof to direct their actions as POTUS. koan: true, most American's do not trust Obama and they are making a huge mistake. But bush was in office for 8 months and during that time did little to get Osama or beef up protection from Al Qaeda; and it did happened on his watch. Those are the facts. Clinton never had the same support bush had to go after Osama after 9/11. Rememeber when Clinton bombed that one site he received a lot of ctitizism. As far as Monica goes, I would say she captrued his attention. Monica told people she was going to Washington with her "knee pads on". It was the right wing (funded by Henery Mellon Scaife) who was trying to impeach clinton, for nothing, that took away his attention. It was politcal payback for the republicans who love revenge. The democrates err on the side of caution because they are trying to keep our constitution and democracy intact. Like giving a man a free trial. Bush has said in effect: we are at war therefore I am responsible to no one or the congress. He keeps saying the danger is so high no one (including the congress) can question anything he does, as he is protecting the US. So bush has been running an imperial presidency. Dictaorship to be more crass. Even our center right supremem court has said repeatedly bush is breaking the law with regard to Gitmo, etc.. If one considers terrorism, war, we will be at war forever, so do we just change from a democracy to a dictaorship? That is where Bush's logic takes one. I would prefer to stay a democracy and take my chances. I am not very fond of dictatorships!
