Its more a matter of looking at the facts and coming to a conclusion, rather than a disagreement about the facts. There is probably a bit of disagreement about facts, but there is more difference of opinion in what facts one pays attention to, difference in the context which the facts are presented, and differences in the analysis of the facts.

"Evidence" is pretty much "the facts". Since that isn't the real source of most of the disagreement, I'm not sure how piling on a lot of evidence is going to be all that useful. The same evidence can be used both as evidence that everything is falling apart and that things aren't horrible.
