Give me an old time Eisenhower Republican and I may vote republican again

I am a deeply disappointed Republican myself but one who understands that Eisenhower was President at a time when the challenges facing the nation were not nearly as daunting as those facing us now.

The current failure of leadership is nearly total, on both sides of the aisle. The idealistic neocons have been a disaster but I doubt the democratic Pelosis, Murthas, Teddy Kennedys, etc., would have done much better. Nonetheless, we would not be mired in Iraq if a Dem had been elected rather than Bush. As it is, it will be impossible to simply leave Iraq, a legacy Bush will give us that will surely last at least five more years.

But someone had to protect that oil for the rest of the world, right? And for free, using our blood and treasure.

Statistics are just that, trends are not universal truths.
