I don't trust what the newspapers have to say much. None of them.

I read the "Daily Telegraph" typically. Mainstream right wing conservative political view. I'm not really a conservative though. I just dislike most left wing politics even more.

If a story is of interest or developing fast, I will read what it's opposite has to say "The Guardian"

guardian.co.uk

Rupert Murdoch is a person who stands in the way of proper news imho. He says he is a libertarian in political view. I would call him a megalomaniac control freak who has gone off the rails. He controls much of the news media and interferes with it and UK politics. He boasts of it in fact.

The Sun: "It's the Sun wot won it".

He broke the powerful print unions, and did some other things that were probably beneficial overall, but quite honestly he is too confrontational imho. I hear the Times used to be a good newspaper... before he owned it. I occasionally read the Times

There are others I look at occasionally.

If I am interested in a story overseas I have no hesitation to read the English version of the newspapers there. Some of them are very good I think.

Some of these papers are highly biased of course, but sometimes it easier to understand a known biased paper then one that purportedly "prints the truth" -g-

Some complain about the left wing bias of the BBC, well don't forget to look at the ITV UK news channel too..

I read the New Scientist sometimes..

I very rarely read anything in the Sun, Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, News of the World, etc.

Lots of UK people I know do read all those gutter press newspapers though, and they believe every word in them as the gospel truth. Why? I just don't know why. They are just dumb people who just soak it up I guess, but they are my friends too, and several of them showed me the news article about the muslims hating cute puppy dogs.

When LB pm'd it to me, it was a bit annoying, I just had to say something of course. He should know better. -g-
