Welfare is not a problem anymore. It got out of control in the 70's and needed to be reined in. It was. Mainly during the Clinton years. End of story. But don't think we don't need safety nets for disabled people or those unable to work. We do. Any civilized society does. Unless you believe the US should be like a 3rd world country with 1% rich and everyone else struggling to survive. Do you? A lot of people on the right believe precisely that. But they are all in the top 1%. Are you? If not, why are you supporting them? Are you nuts? Or just hung up on some phony issue like abortion or gays in the military?
