When Clinton left office there were projections that showed our entire debt to be paid off by 2012. He had soemthing like a 250 billlion surplus his last year.

8 years later bush doubles the deficit from 5 to 10 trillion and his last year we will have a deficit close to one trillion with a total deficit of almost 20 trillion dollars tht we pay interest on.

The non partison Congressional budget office said it was mostly due to the lost revenue from bush's tax cuts on the rich and corporations. they used to pay about 4% now it is down to 2%.

The neo cons supply side economis predicts a surplus when you cut taxes on the rich. Never happened in the last 30 years:

1980: Carter: 50 billion deficits per year. We owed only one trillion dollar total!

Reagan 250 billion deficit each year for all 8 years. Added two trillion to deficit. He cut 100 billion in taxes from the rich and increased defense spending by 100 million.

bush sr 250 billion deficit all 4 years. one trilllion added to deficit

Clinton turned deficits to surpluses by raising taxes and we started paying down our debt.

bush jr: 5 trillion deficit over 8 years 625 billion a year.

The dollar is almost destroyed. A strong economy has a strong currency. Our military is trashed and our country is spirling into a depression. And we are still paying for two wars with no end in sight.

The next president will inherit a huge mess.
