Uncle, for the amount of money spent, it shouldn't be too beaten down and neglected: < Meanwhile Americans choose to ignore the beat down state of our own military and military equipment.>

Why not get it Made in China and save some money? Okay, that's partly a joke. They might make the barrels sort of crooked before shipping them to the USA to fire back from Taiwan.

<Gorby was as barbaric as any Soviet/Russian leader.
Military weakness tempered his ability to demonstrate the full range of his ruthlessness publicly.
> When the Baltic states went independent, he chose NOT to be "ruthless". He had sufficient force to be plenty ruthless.

It's fascinating that you think him as bad as Stalin. Really, quite amazing and it makes me worry about the judgment of people making decisions in the USA because it seems your ideas are the norm. No wonder the blunder in Iraq was made.

There was a coup against Gorby specifically because he was NOT ruthless and did not use murder to force everyone to comply. Unfortunately for the coupsters, Yeltsin and some opposition put paid to that. The rest is history [albeit open to a LOT of dispute, it seems].
