It's Texas. Of course the A/C is on constantly. The temp might drop to 90 in the evenings. But, it's not the heat, it's the humidity that makes Texas the sweatiest state in the nation. A/C dehumidifies the air.

I'm curious what the utility bills are nowdays. When I lived there 20 years ago $400/mo electric bills weren't unheard of, because of A/C.

Pretty much. We put in a high efficiency unit a couple of years ago. It sliced about $100 a month off the bill during the hottest months.
