KOAN: no MJ you are wrong. Russia and the rest of the communist countries were nothing more than dictatorships. Their brand of socialism was just the outgrowth of their brutal dictatorship. Like North Korea today. YOu think we liberals supported Stalin-lol? Are you crazy? Liberals never supported any of these dictators or their ideas. And they were just their ideas. Anyone who did we called "the crazies". You think stalin, Pol pot or Kim or Mao listened to anyone. those socieites were they result of their own crazy thinking. We liberals fought them with all our might! And none of them represented rational welfare programs or socialism as you like ot call it. Maybe it is your inability to understand the differnece between social programs run by cruel dictators and social programs run by modern day democracies like Canada, Wweden an Denmark! We liberals support democracy. Only democracy and free speech. That is the only political system we support. All of us. For economic systems we wrestle with that question. As modern day democracy and social programs are very new and evolving and each day we learn a little better what we should do. We are still in the early stages of our cultrual eveolution, democracy and equal rights. The past was horrible. workers were treated like chit until the unions arose in the 30's. Sweatshops where little kids work 14 hours a day 7 days a week. women could not vote and had many other civil rights denied. We liberals want to live in a modern day democracy. Our top priorities are civil rights, equal rights and a humanitarian government. MJ: Koan you really have your history garbled. Communism equates with control by the government and restricts ownership of everything from housing to business. It's government housing such as Obama worked for in South Side Chicago. It's government 'nanny care' for all children from age 1 as Obama wants. It's mandated government health insurance and healthcare that stipulates what doctor you can see. Don't you realize, of course you don't, that this is why people fear Obama-----Obama is big government wanting to control--- written large. Obama wants to control every facet of your life and if you have children or grandchildren their lives-----look at the policy papers on his own web site-----its all there. Obama given a little power will grab for more power----that is what leftist politicans do and they often come under the guise of being centrist. jmho----mj
