Took the opportunity this July 4 to talk to my 16yr old niece about the upcoming election. She was surprised to hear Mr Obama will expect Americans to use less gas, and that he's also opposed to offshore drilling which would lower the cost.

That was the topic that grabbed her interest..she's entering senior yr of HS, so $4gal gas is eating into the small paycheck she receives for her part time job. When she was leaving to go home that day, she said "the next time we discuss the election at school I'm telling the class that Sen Obama wouldn't be a good President."<g>

Hope the teacher doesn't deduct points for non-conformity of opinion or what she no doubt considers political incorrectness.

koan: "That is not reality."

The strength in the public scool system at all levels, is that the kids get a taste of all ideas. Liberal, conservative and libertarian.

Sounds nice, what countries school system are you talking about?.....<ggg> Have you ever asked your kids if they do get exposed to any conservative thinkers? Who those thinkers are? They're exceedingly more likely to have extensive exposure to anti-capitalistic systems, you know, all the big isms, socialism, communism, marxism.... only the cream of all the failed systems of government.

My kids had many horrible teachers. I would tell them. That is life and you need to deal with it. Although if it got too bad I would intervene.

OMG, we have something in common....<g>

Unfortunately, when it comes to primary education here is where our present union monopoly system simply fails us all. Gives teachers no incentive to teach well. Makes it close to impossible and outrageously expensive to fire incompetent teachers, @$250,000 at a minimum and as much as 2 years worth of processes..... Tell me how great the unions are....
