but protect caribou calves' migration paths lest they might have to walk around an oil rig.

Guess what, not only did they find that the oil pipeline did not interfere with the caribou migration but they love hanging out around it because the warm oil in the pipes keeps the snow and ice thin around it. Easier for them to feed in the winter....
