I referred to domestic production of conventional energy - oil, natural gas, coal, and nuclear. I do think that is important, just as important as conservation and wind and solar. And the oil and natural gas part requires drilling. For some reason, that angers you and mm.

First, I'm not that worried about electric production short term... unless you are a GW alarmist then I don't think it's a immediate issue... so coal and nuke are not major issues to me either way. We are going to have to increase electric production in the future to power electric vehicles. And renewables do make sense long term. Might as well get on with it.

My biggest issue is oil. And drilling is fine (though some say with a resource that is becoming increasingly precious maybe we should hold off... not a bad argument). MPG efficiency is the only way to make a short term, significant difference.

Here's where you and mm have a real difference with me. You guys have a hostile attitude toward market forces and a high regard for government command decisions.

I have the ultimate regard for market forces... and taxes and subsidies are both strong market forces. They currently influence everything economic in this country; if you think not just think a little harder. They are and have always been adjusted hopefully for the good of society. Gas consumption certainly qualifies as 50% of our trade deficit and the lifeblood of our economy.

Despite that you are angry and apparently want much more drastic action. I can only imagine what.

I am scared shitless, not angry. I've written a half dozen times what I think should be done.... no need to imagine.
