-immigrants must expect to assimilate into the American culture, rather than trying to replace it with the culture they came here to escape. That depends very much on who we get as President. Clinton spent a lot of effort trying to shove cultural diversity down our throats at the expense of assimilating cultures into the American one. In my case, his strategy backfired because I became more judgmental in my views about other cultures when I saw that cultural diversity was at the expense of American ideals.
