I have always maintained that lower speed limits strictly enforced are safer... Of course, if they are just going to post lower speed limit signs all over the place with a few overworked troopers or cops around, then it is not going to work.
A long time ago, I used to carry around a Colt .38 on my hip, bringing sacks of money from stores to banks, and while I had to take it out a few times, luckily it never had to be fired except at the firing range... It is a damn shame so many have to die or be seriously injured by guns and vehicles in this country.
