The democrats say that for only one reason, to cover up their stupid policy of no oil for the last 30 years.

That tired tune "we can't drill our way out of this"is such nonsense. There is no one way. Much has to be done in every area. However, drilling is a fairly sure thing to support further alternatives as is Nuclear, wind, solar and tides.

"However, drilling is a fairly sure thing..."

The world uses about 85 million barrels of crude a day, ie 3.1 billion barrels a year. The usual estimate for the world's reserves is 1.2 trillion barrels.... At the current rate of consumption (which is rising), the planet has about a 38 years of crude left....the US will be dry before that. Does the fact that drilling is being done in more difficult and more inhospitable places mean any thing. We are now exploring under the North Pole and drilling wells 22,000 feet deep....

No, the big oil lies are total nonsense. for one thing, Bushie oil pimps have been in charge for eight years. No one has stopped them from raping our wilderness as much as they could get away with. Just visit western Wyoming to see what I mean.

Second, oil companies are sitting on 10,000 unb-used approved drilling permits but don't want to drill. Why? Because they prefer to sit on all that oil and not bring it to market to keep prices sky high.

Third, they are not refining to capacity and they are supporting war in the Middle East, both of which jack up gas prices.

Fourth, they are spending hundreds of millions on totally dishonest TV ads and PR campaigns, buying up the McCain campaign lock, stock and barrel and trying to basically control our country and its future, and get away with the hundreds of billions they have stolen from us.

Fifth, they don't give a damn if they ruin life on earth itself. SO long as they're making money, environmental protection is their #1 sworn enemy. So never believe it when they talk green, though there are a few good guys in companies like Shell and BP, the Euro companies. But no one in Texas or in OPEC gives a damn. They are all just vampires.

Finally, even if we let them drill in every last wilderness preserve, it wouldn't help bringing down prices. It would just line their pockets and ruin what's left of America The Beautiful. Plus the people of California and Florida will never allow it to happen because clean beaches are the Golden Goose of our economies. And oil spills do happen, sometimes huge ones.
