"Why do all of you love Volker." Because Volcker did what was necessary. We were in exactly the same sort of spiral that Israel was in at the time. Except there wasn't a US to bail us out with low cost loans and outright grants. Much less investing in businesses and infrastructure. So, yeah. Volcker's policies weren't fun. But without them we would have chased along the stagflation spiral until something collapsed. " I dont think volker would do volker today." Probably not. But that doesn't mean the fix will be any more fun.
