CJ, it was one of the Carter's energy programs that caused "Black Sunday." You think more of that over the past 25 years wouldn't have been a significant drag on a 25 year economic expansion?

And how economically viable was solar energy way back in the late 70's and early 80's? You argue that it was a "billion dollar a year industry," yet how viable was it when it couldn't sustain itself? Even now with all of the advances in solar energy, it still requires tons of government support.

As for "both links supporting your point," you might want to read the 2nd link in its entirety, or at least skim through it. It argues more on the basis of the free market than on sustaining alternative energy programs that don't make much economic sense.

Like I said before, we'll get through the current "crisis." Despite what you liberals say, we still live in the greatest country on Earth with the most fundamentally strong economy. Even a multi-year recession over the next few years is nothing. Only problem is that you guys want to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
