I would not want privatized SS investments to be without restriction. Those accounts would have to be eligible only for appropriate investments.

For example, individual stocks would need to be excluded. But for those who are young, stock mutual funds would be fine. For those who are older, you would need to restrict it to fixed income funds.

Essentially, the principles of good investing would need to be enforced. But the idea of getting higher returns that are possible through market investments is what matters. Much as is done with so many 401ks.
