agree and agree. I saw a TV special recently that indicated it was safe to proceed. I know alternate more important but like with mccains gas tax cut, americans need to see something they understand just to get the feeling the govt is doing something. Come september when the race for president starts these kinds of joe sixpack issues will start helping mccain. Obamites might want to consider going populist on micro-issues rather than on free trade and nafta. Folks only understand latter in places affected and there mccain is a free trader. But for every disgrutled blue collar guy there is another one somewhere else doing real well because of exports.

In tourist areas especially, something needs to be done to control the dumping. A big problem on Texas beaches is the trash that gets washed up, much of it from the rigs. Not all, ships contribute a certain amount also. But the rigs are bad about it.

You're kidding. The platforms dump their garbage into the Gulf? Oh they're going to love that in CA.
