Where did I say anything about "evil oil companies ruling the world"?? Corporations are in business to MAKE MONEY and most of them don't care about much other than the "bottom line". That's their goal and they'll push the limits of regulation and everything else to accomplish it. ALL of us are pretty much the same way. When I buy a stock my MAIN concern is "can I make money on it", NOT, "will my buying this stock serve the betterment of mankind". If I were an Oil Exec. I'd be doing things exactly the way those guys are doing it.
