If you could structure the program to be financially solvent going forward, I'd be fully supportive. But the trend, as pointed out in the previous post, is unmistakable. Eventually, this program will bring the entire economy down unless something is done to make it fiscally responsible. I might add, that the 70% [combined] tax rate I mentioned in the previous post was what the chief actuary for SSA said we would need to sustain the program -- 30 years ago. Nothing has changed.
