Most people wanted children at the time of the colonies, but there was a very skewed sex-ratio, especially in the southern colonies, which indicated that female infants died at a much higher rate than male infants.

and to repeat, I didn't claim the founding fathers were in favor of infanticide, but they did set up the country so that families had the choice of how to run their lives.
