how about you remove the income cap altogether and treat fica like medicare and reduce the rates for fica to make it rev neutral or just capture whats needed to keep system solvent for another 30 years. That's just kicking the can. 30 years, in pension (or SS) terms, is the blink of an eye. Even the 75 years they mentioned is a single lifetime. As Al pointed out, it is a 10 Trillion dollar problem. It is going to take a very long time to work through it. And frankly, there is near-zero chance of getting anything done on it before it becomes critical -- given today's political environment.
