The problem is that in the US borrowing has been used for day to day needs. If we can get the deficit down over the next few years that would be great but you just cant go and confiscate wealth to rebuild a bridge. Keep the goose from being cooked.

Nobody talked "confiscating wealth" in the 90's, and that's the level we are talking about now. Debt is killing this country, and if you want to be 3rd world then keep building it.

We are transferring wealth overseas; your wealth. Your wealth because the countries debt is your debt. It doesn't go away, it's on your personal credit card, and has to be paid by you with interest.

A balanced budget brings so many benefits including a strong currency that can buy oil and other products without sending people into poverty. It's what made America the pre-eminent great power... the US dollar and the fiscal responsibility of previous generations.

The goose is almost cooked, thanks to our "borrow-n-spend" friends in the current admin who abandoned solid conservative fundamentals like balanced budgets and no nation building and solid energy policy for the country not their special interest backers.

I'm sick to death of the current sorry excuses for conservatives. The first thing a true conservative does is make sure he can pay hs bills no matter how much it hurt his lifestyle. These guys want a free ride... they make liberals look like saints.
