You guy are incredibly ignorant when it comes to the US gov't subsidies of oil. Do your research for God's sake. No wonder John and have a frustrating time debating with you guys. Your knowledge is sketchy at best. In 2004 and 2005, the Republican Congress passed a couple energy bills that included around $13-14 billion in tax subsidies for oil. Included in those provisions were incentives to drill offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. In 2007 and 2008, the Dems tried to roll those subsidies back and institute new taxes on oil, which would have cost the oil companies a total of $18 billion. The Republicans threatened to filibuster if it was brought to a vote and Bush threatened to veto it. That's the Republican party for you today. Doing everything in their power to help the oil companies, when our country is dying under the yoke of oil slavery. It's bad for our economy and national security and only unpatriotic people who support our enemies in the Middle East would continue those policies.
