You are correct Mind, but the Obama camp ain't stupid. If they figured out that they had to sell their soul to get elected, then this only shows how bent out of shape most voters have become in regards to the so called national security issues.

Obama and other Democratic Senators voted for FISA to avoid impeachment during election year. If FISA is voted down, there is no immunity for the telecom industry, and Bush is violating the law - 30 counts no less - which he swore to uphold.

However, the Democrats are playing a dangerous game. If McCain is elected, then he will have supreme power as a dictator under FISA, and there is no individual freedom since essentially the fourth amendment becomes moot.

Maybe the Democrats were thinking that Obama will surely be elected as the next President and FISA will be overturned by the next Congress. But cannot count the chicken before it hatches. And how can one be sure that Obama, as good as he is, will not just enjoy the immunity of spying against anybody who is against him?

Sad indeed that FISA was passed, and Bush will gladly sign that bill, and probably uses it immediately to help McCain!

No kidding. I wish Obama had not voted for that damn FISA bill.

I doubt I will ever understand this move.

But the real question for me is Obama doing it simply as a matter of political expediency. or does he really f****** believe this s***.

I don't have a clue any more as to who this guy is and what, if anything, he believes in.
