Sure, I'm perfectly willing to believe the king mentioned as dying was Alexander. And I don't doubt any of the historical knowledge we have of him. However our historical knowledge of historical characters like him is based on copies of copies of copies of things written by historians after his time. Similar to the Bible. And there is no good reason to assert our knowledge of persons in the Bible, like Jesus and Paul for example, is any weaker than our knowledge of people like Alexander or Julius Caesar etc.
