I agree.....the US is far from finished but things could get much worse or much better. US is still driver of the world economy despite all the talk of china, india, europe. Sure its not like WW2 days or sixties or even nineties but as walmarts numbers show today, american consumer is far from dead. You are 100% right about not punishing ourselves like shiaas on pilgrimage (no offense intended) as john would have us do. This is a matter of practical politics and economics and not about protestant work ethic or catholic morality. Oh yes we screwed up but we need reagan redux in obamas image or at minimum mccain fully divorced from bushleaguepolitics.
