I don't like the vote but I understand it. That bill was bound to pass whether Obama voted for it or not. A No vote on that bill would have made Obama a target in some swing states like Virginia, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Ohio. It would allow his critics to question his national security credentials. Look...I can compromise with the best of them. I want our troops out of Iraq asap. Obama says it will take time...maybe 16 months. Okay. I can live with that.......I don't like it but I understand that I can't have everything I want when I want it. However, with FISA, we are talking the Constitution. That's special and has to do with our freedoms. If people in the swing states don't understand why FISA is dangerous, screw it......you don't vote for something when it is wrong just because people don't understand. If you don't explain it and stand up for your principles, they will never understand it. Voting to allow monitoring of phone lines without FISA judicial oversight is wrong.....period! And Obama knows it.
