I haven't done any research to speak of but my rule of thumb is that about 2% of the trades that occur are not clean and above board... in normal markets. And my best guess is that 20-25% of total dollar trades are done on them. Hope that helps.

On a possibly related note, ICE had a huge 10.5% down today. I haven't had a chance to do any surfing about it yet.
