Obama Regrets Pushing his Kids in front of Access Hollywood Cameras Rick Moran Of all the low down, sneaky, dishonest political tricks, this one takes the cake. Obama has had a sudden case of the regrets over exposing his children to the Access Hollywood cameras who had come to the Obama mansion in order to interview the candidate with his family around him. What makes this so unbelievably craven is that his kids - like all kids - were cute as a button; spontaneous, clever, well spoken, and photogenic as hell. No doubt Obama got a lot of mileage out of those pictures. Then, to deflect criticism that he was shamelessly using his children as political props, the candidate does an about face and lets it be known that he "probably" shouldn't have done it. Michelle Malkin transcribed this interview with Matt Lauer on The Today Show: LAUER: …some people said wait a minute, the senator is trying to have it both ways. On the one hand, you want to protect your private life. On the other hand, here you are sitting with your two daughters and allowing them to answer questions. Did you make the right call on that? OBAMA: Uh, you know, I think that we, uh, got carried away in the moment. We were having a birthday party and everybody was laughing, and suddenly this thing cropped up. And, uh, I didn’t catch it quickly enough. And I was surprised by the attention it received as well. LAUER: Senator, if you had to do it over again? OBAMA: Yah, I won’t be doing it again and we won’t be doing it again. Malkin culls the baloney and reveals Obama a liar: He's got no one to blame but himself for this bad judgment call that wasn't, to borrow Michelle O's phrase, good for his kids. Yet, Obama makes it seem as though the cameras just magically appeared from nowhere, taking him by surprise. As if the four-part interview were a spur of the moment decision that "suddenly...cropped up." Horse-hockey you can believe in. A four-part interview that probably entailed hours of set-up, makeup, mic checks, and post-wrap schmoozing...and he "didn't catch it quickly enough." Snort. And Matt Lauer just sits there like a bump on a log while Obama expertly lies to him. Pretty good Mr. O. You get the benefits of showing your children off on TV while covering your behind by "admitting" you probably shouldn't have done it. Lying we can believe in... Posted at 11:40 AM | Email | Permalink Comments This is just his way of having his cake and eating it too. He wanted the kids out there for campaign purposes, but he didn't want backlash because he was exploiting his own kids. So he found a way to do the interview and then publicly express "regret". He gets the benefit of the interview and a free pass from the criticism he deserves for doing it. At least from the COOs (Cultists of Obama). Posted by: Mojo | July 10, 2008 11:55 AM Obama: "...and suddenly this thing cropped up. And, uh, I didn't catch it quickly enough." ********* Of course this is a lie. But if it was true, it should leave us all in a state of fear and trembling at the thought of having this man at the helm of our great nation as Commander in Chief, protecting us from our enemies. "Uh ... oh ... then the Iranians just cropped up ... dropped a nuclear bomb on Israel and then NYC and I didn't catch it quickly enough." Seems this is the kind of flimsy excuse BO uses for every "mistake" in his life. Judgment? Character? I don't think so. Posted by: Beth Barnat | July 10, 2008 12:16 PM I wonder if Obama has any pictures lying around of his kids peeking from under the desk while Daddy's working. C'mon, give us a break already. Posted by: Ciscokid | July 10, 2008 01:44 PM So, with Obama as President, at some point in the not so distant future, as Iranian nuclear missiles head toward Israel, will President Obama go on national television and fumble through a speech where he says that "I didn't catch the threat of Iranian nukes quickly enough. Sorry about that Israel. Posted by: CHIEFS | July 10, 2008 03:01 PM This is how I honestly believe the pathological narcissist thinks. "White people always think black kids are cute. I can win a lot of votes w/ this. But white people think kids need to be protected from the media. So I have to pretend it was an accident." The problem w/ this is that it pretty much works for him, over and over. Pathological narcissists are unbelievably good at figuring out what others want to hear, and then turning on the appropriate charm. Posted by: Park Slope Pubbyamericanthinker.com wecanbelievein.com
