It has been that way for 60 years: Nice to have someone agree with me zeta-lol. Joe Macarthy and the House of Unamerican Activities was a horrible time in our history. I still have a picture in my mind of eisenhower embracing him. A liberal Repulbican margaret Chase Smith (from Main) was one of the first to put him in his place. Macarthy ended up being totally descreditied. Red baiting, he destroyed many reputations in Hollywood. Dalton trumbo was destroyed but would not back down. He wrote the famous book "Johnny got his gun" That is a gut wrencher of a book. Nixon-they do not come any worse than Nixon. Spiro Agnew had to resign for taking bribes. 1964 civil rights act---right wingers filabustered for 14 days to stop integration. Why would any one of conscience belong to a party that would do that?? And onto todays bush lite. Look who bush surrounds himself with. Not a nice person in the group. Last, in Alaska, one republican after another is being brought under indictment or convicted of taking brines from our oil companies. Had a new one yesterday. No democrats! 20 members of our legisltrue took over $10,000 from the oil companies in campaign conributions. 19 republcians and one democrat (who is honest I think) How much evidence does a person need to evaluate right wingers and neo cons for who they are?
