Many people don't believe that number any more. Besides, there is an almost total loss of faith in the Bush gov't.

LOL hardly, when it went up from college summer hires not employed the market reacted downward, even though it actually made no difference in the economy. Like most of the people, most of the market is ignorant. The numbers are fairly accurate, though one can quibble with what should be included, Bush has nothing to do with it, the same people calculate this no matter who is in office, they are not political appointees.

Safer to be long or short this weekend. I wouldnt rule out combined, treasury, congressional, fed, moves on fannie/freddie, and oil. Maybe the shorts will get both barrels. Up 500 on monday?? Yeah, yeah i am dreaming.
