I remember railing at GM with the hummer. You could see this coming a mile away but GM brought us the Pig anyway. At least SUVs have a role for families and trucks for businesses. The pig had no redeeming value.

I've noticed, along with others, that traffic is lighter these days on the freeways. Have you noticed that in Tampa?

Seems to be but it's always lighter in the summer (fewer tourists and no school). Seeing a lot more scouters. Also maybe it's my imagination but it seems like there are slightly fewer SUVs and more smaller cars. Could be people are just making a choice and leaving the larger vehicle at home.

What I've noticed is an increase in scooters and smart cars. Let me tell you there are some big scooters which approach the size of cycles. I don't know how much mpg they get but I bet they move okay on the freeways.

Meanwhile, I would not want to be in one of those smart cars [or a scooter] in an accident.

"Also maybe it's my imagination but it seems like there are slightly fewer SUVs and more smaller cars. "

Maybe not. Now, this is strictly anecdotal, but I have seen a couple of things here. For example, right now at the HEB, someone has parked a not very old SUV on the outer part of the parking lot. Great shape, maybe 5 years old at the most. Price on it is $3k. It's been there a few weeks. They probably will deal.

In addition, I saw a Smart Car in Bryan.

Never thought I'd see the day...
