Falcon,
With ultra insulation new addition and close to that (R-28) in the old house and wood for main heat, we still burn near 500 gallon a year though, most of that is for hot water. At $2K a year that still pays for efficiency, my el cheapo bones can't imagine 8-10K or MORE a year for 2K of oil a season. Sure I'd fly south too with the geese or the snowbirds, and BTW 10K cords is a LOT of wood, but hey I don't have moose in the backyard, ggg.
