"The net is every US barrel helps, "

How about a conservation program???? Is that not patriotic? Is that not sensible?

We have 230 million vehicles....if each saved one gallon a day, that would be the equivalent of 5.8 million barrels of production. Make it 3 gallons a week and it is 2.5 million barrels a day..... Just one gallon a week, ie just 15 miles less of driving, would be the equivalent of 821,000 barrels a day... How much easier can it be???? Bush's very optimistic estimates for ANWR are 670,000 barrels a day.... a no brainer, don't you think? So what is he doing to encourage conservation......squat!!!

Squeezing the last oil out of unprofitable fields is not going to make a difference. We've already seen that the only deterrent to increased usage is vastly increased prices. Drilling a few measly percentage is not going to drive those prices down, not going to affect the 'crazy' governments who are getting rich.

Conservation, alternate energy, hybrids, etc are our only hope of not being strangled economically. Either that or invade Canada...
