Obama ran for senate to run for president. He fixated on that goal from the beginning. None of us really know for sure what he is about and what his core beliefs are. But if you go to the website, you get the feeling that you are viewing a pragmatist and someone willing to work across the aisle and not wedded to new deal liberalism and the welfare state.
I guess whats coming in the US is the remaking of both parties--dems first. What will replace bush/rove i do not know. Looking at GB where the Tories are the bottom up party and more intersted in minimizing big brother is instructive. There is some of this in obama too.
His background in community organizing unlike that of jesse/sharpy tells him (i think) that folks cant just rely on govt largesse to succeed. I think that there will be a lot for you to like in an obama presidency. If that happens, you should at least give the guy a chance. Some repubss did so with FDR and some dems with Reagan. I am tired of talking to you, inode, shorty, brumar as if you were one guy. You are four different guys and i sense that you are open minded like Ten enough at least to be supportive if mccain loses.
