When we think of weather forecasting, it's traditional to give a wry grin of cynical disbelief. Assuming the weather will NOT be as expected is always a good safety strategy. Weather forecasting a week from now is considered in-depth long-range forecasting. But weather forecasting for 100 years from now is supposedly so precise that we what the weather will be doing on average if not on any particular day. Weather forecasting has traditionally been one step up from sooth-saying, black magic, charlatanism, in with other "professions" such as chiropractors, acupuncture, mystics, fortune telling, astrology and other black arts. Long range weather forecasting is in the same category. We are supposed to just BELIEVE the priesthood. They give a glib, facile, description of the supposed situation and we the heathens are supposed to just hand over our money and kneel to the citadel. When I see people going for my wallet, I have learned that a good deal of cynicism is warranted. My theories about the Greenhouse Effect seem to match reality better than do the priesthood's, so I think I'll stick with my own theories. I have had the theory in operation since the mid 1980s, which is when a lot of the newbies to The Greenhouse Effect were still in nappies. Teaching grandparents to suck eggs is traditionally something to be avoided. Proof that the Greenhouse Effect is not science, but belief, is that adherents are generally divided by political allegiance rather than scientific analysis. Similarly, Islamic Jihad reckons they have the one true faith and The Pople claims that he is infallible and if not him, then definitely the Main Man. Mqurice
